Before and After

Friday afternoon

It was actually pretty warm today, low 50's but cloudy, so we put on our light jackets and sunglasses, and walked to the Square. We had some espresso and muffins at the ultra non-cool coffee shop (light rock is played throughout and the rent-a-center couch has many scary stains), stopped by the flower shop and then headed over to the playground down the street.  Elliott loved the swing, he keep giggling every time we poked him in the stomach when he and Mike swang back and forth. Everyone was in good spirits for the short trip and when we returned home everyone, including me, took a nice long nap.

I love fridays.

itsy bitsy spider

cambridge puke

Last friday night, before we met some friends for dinner, we stopped in Marimekko to check out some Finnish fashion. As soon as we get in the door, Lucy, who i was carrying, opens her mouth, almost as if to say something, and regurgitated food comes rolling out. I ran back out onto the sidewalk and Mike, who for some reason felt he had to catch the puke falling out of her mouth despite the fact that we were outdoors, held his hands up to her mouth and caught a handful of mushy popcorn. We cleaned her up, wiped her down, ran into the restaurant and used the bathroom and were almost about to go home when Lucy perked up and said she wanted to stay. We were like, uh, are you sure? because we're pretty hungry. She looked around and said, yeah i feel better now. I want to stay.

So we did! and she was fine! it was so weird. But i never got a new tote bag.

who is this guy?

My son has suddenly become this ultra happy, gleeful little guy that makes this cough-like noise when he's about to smile. It's pretty cute.

Lucy serves herself

The other morning I was half asleep in bed when Lucy comes running in like she does every day and tells me that she wants me to "geddup" and she wants "some-in to eat". I told her to hold on, like i always do, to wait a few minutes while i rouse myself and i turned over and fell back asleep. A few minutes later i hear a pitter patter of feet nearing the bed and i look up and she's standing next to me, eating a box of yogurt covered raisins. Apparently she had run downstairs, opened the cabinet and helped herself to a delicious breakfast of raisins doused in sugar. I guess if i were a good parent, i would've snatched them away, gotten up immediately and cooked a healthy meal of proteins and irons. Instead, i silently congratulated her on her industriousness, and fell back asleep.

Another reason that Elliott is not Eliot

Eliot Spitzer, right?
